Jamie J. Carr, BSN, RN, CBN

Jamie Carr joined The Davis Clinic as the Clinical Director in February 2008. With over 14 years of healthcare experience, Jamie has spent the last 13 years of her career focused on bariatric medicine and the treatment of obesity. Her background is in developing bariatric programs, and she has been involved with outcomes establishment and measurement, patient support programs, critical pathways, protocols, and bariatric team development. In 2009-2010, she worked on the design and buildout of our 8,000 square foot clinic and her involvement on that project brought great satisfaction to her personally and professionally. Jamie continues to look for ways to streamline processes, enhance our patient education materials, and she oversees our support groups and behavior modification programs, as well as the medically-supervised weight loss program.

She has consulted for bariatric surgical practices across the country to assist in improving patient outcomes and enhancing aftercare programs. In addition, she has consulted for the Surgical Review Corporation, in the Division of Clinical Quality and Compliance where she assisted in developing the bariatric Centers of Excellence program and performed site inspections for the first credentialed bariatric centers in the nation.

Jamie is a certified bariatric nurse. She served as the National Chair for the ASMBS Foundation’s annual Walk from Obesity for over four years, and is a past-member of the board for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Foundation. She has served on the Public and Professional Education Committee for the ASMBS, has written numerous articles for WLS Lifestyles magazine, including a cover story with the former Surgeon General of the United States of America, and currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for WLS Lifestyles magazine. In addition, she has served on the ASMBS RN Credentialing Task Force and, most recently, as a faculty member for the Certified Bariatric Nurse Preparatory Course. She serves on the RN Certification Development Committee and chairs the Marketing subcommittee. She is also a past member of the BariMD Advisory Board. She currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. and is working on the development of their comprehensive portal modules to provide exceptional tools and resources to bariatric professionals across the country.

Jamie Carr has collaborated with bariatric industry manufactures as an educational consultant, has been a featured speaker at national conferences, and has been featured on the Discovery Health Channel on two one-hour specials regarding the treatment of obesity in America.

Prior to taking on the role of Clinical Director at The Davis Clinic, Jamie served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations for Bariatric Partners, Inc., headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she managed all aspects of starting and maintaining ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) in cities across the country. She was responsible for state licensure and accreditation, as well as overseeing all operational aspects of successfully running an ASC.

Most recently, Jamie was published in Surgery for Obesity and Related Disease (SOARD).  Her article, Path to bariatric nurse certification:  the practice analysis, can be found in Volume 6, Number 4, July/August 2010, pages 399-407.

Jamie is a strong proponent of research and education, believing in the empowerment of the weight loss surgery patient. She has worked with thousands of bariatric patients and has a special interest in post-operative micro-nutrient supplementation to ensure patients thrive and remain healthy after any bariatric procedure. 

Kimberly P. Taylor
Marketing & Administrative Director

Kimberly Taylor joined The Davis Clinic as the marketing and administrative director in February 2008. She has over 20 years’ solid, hands-on experience in marketing and public relations strategies and implementation, strategic planning, brand identity, business development, advertising, and trade show and event management. In addition, approximately ten years of her career was spent in radio and broadcast production. She specializes in healthcare marketing with an emphasis on bariatric medicine, and her forté resides in business-to-consumer marketing.

Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Kimberly served as Director of Marketing & Brand Strategy for Bariatric Partners, Inc., headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she marketed their outpatient surgery centers in cities across the country under the brand name “JourneyLite.” Before joining Bariatric Partners, Inc., she was the Director of Marketing & Business Development for University General Hospital Systems, LLP. In addition, she established the first bariatric program for the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System – the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the State of Texas – on the Memorial City Medical Center campus, where she ran a highly-successful comprehensive program for several years.

With a passion for making a difference in the lives of the morbidly obese, Kimberly has served as a National Advisory Board Member for the ASMBS Foundation, and is the Past-National Vice-Chair for the ASMBS Foundation’s Walk from Obesity. She is an Editorial Advisory Board Member of WLS Lifestyles magazine, and her column, “Observations from an Obesity Survivor Overcomer,” appeared for several years in this national publication. She has presented at the Annual ASMBS Conference and was asked to join the faculty of BariMD as a resource to clients seeking expertise in bariatric marketing. In her role with BariMD, she presented to programs from all across the country at several conferences on program management, marketing, and best practices. In addition, she has presented at the American Marketing Association and her creative work placed as a semi-finalist for the American Marketing Association Houston Chapter’s Crystal Awards. She currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. and is working on the development of their comprehensive portal modules to provide exceptional tools and resources to bariatric professionals across the country.

Kimberly is responsible for rebranding The Davis Clinic with its current name and logo and she manages the strategic marketing and advertising campaigns of the clinic, including all print, radio, outdoor billboard, website, direct mail campaigns, physician referral outreach programs, and other marketing efforts of the practice. She coordinated the shooting schedule for last season with the cast and crew of TLC’s BIG MEDICINE, as well as the one-hour BIG MEDICINE follow-up special which aired this past fall. In addition, she manages all administrative areas of the practice, including physician/surgeon recruitment, human resources, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and managed care contracting and negotiations. Kimberly oversaw our new 8,000 square foot clinic build-out project on the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center campus, and was key to making our move to the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System happen.

As someone that struggled with being severely overweight since childhood, Kimberly had gastric bypass surgery in July 2002, lost 225 pounds, and uses her passion and personal experience to advocate for medical treatment on behalf of those who suffer from the life-threatening disease of morbid obesity.

Claudia Arroyos, MS, MA, RD, LD

Claudia Arroyos is a 2009 graduate of Bastyr University, an accredited natural health arts and sciences higher education institution located in Washington State. After obtaining a Master of Science in Nutrition, Claudia went on to complete her dietitic internship in 2010 at the University of Houston where, in 2001, she previously earned a Master of Arts in Sociology.  Claudia is passionate about nutrition and wellness, and takes a client-centered approach to both. She believes that good nutrition is the foundation for optimal health, and, therefore integrates a whole foods perspective into her practice. Her desire is to inspire healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes that promote optimal health outcomes throughout life, prevent disease, and enhance the overall quality of life, while recognizing individual needs and preferences.

Maddie Orsak, MS, RD, LD
Bariatric Dietitian

Maddie Orsak joined The Davis Clinic in September 2010 as our exceptional bariatric dietitian. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 2009 with a degree in nutrition, and a minor in psychology. She then completed her combined dietetic internship and Masters program at Texas Woman’s University in 2010, and is a member in good standing of the American Dietetic Association and the Houston Area Dietetic Association.  Maddie is a born leader, having served as president of nutrition organizations at both Texas A&M University (Nutrition and Dietetic Association) and TWU (Nutrition Graduate Student Association). She won the Senior Merit Award in 2009 at Texas A&M University, the highest award given by Texas A&M’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She is a registered and licensed dietitian within the State of Texas. Within The Davis Clinic, Maddie works with our surgical program, educating patients about nutrition and how to change behaviors to maximize success. She was recently married and is happy to call Houston home.

Maria Guevara
Front Desk Coordinator

Maria Guevara joined The Davis Clinic July 2008 as our front desk coordinator. She is the first face our patients see, as her role in greeting our patients and making them feel at home and welcome is vitally important. Maria checks each patient in on clinic days, coordinates the preparation of patient charts, schedules new patient appointments, calls patients that need to be rescheduled, and works hard to keep clinic days running on time. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Maria was in the residential leasing industry in Houston. She brings the customer service skills she acquired in her previous career in residential leasing to our practice in a very positive way. Maria loves to see the positive transformation in the lives of our patients and enjoys hearing the wonderful testimonies of how our physicians have touched and changed our patients’ lives.


Zintia Dominguez
Medical Assistant to Dr. Garth Davis

Zintia Dominguez joined The Davis Clinic in January 2008. She works with Dr. Garth Davis as his medical assistant on clinic days and schedules patient labs and other tests, reviews pre-operative instructions, and is the liaison to Dr. Garth Davis on behalf of his patients. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Zintia worked with an OB/GYN practice for over two years. She is a joy to have on staff and she says that she enjoys being a part of each patient’s journey to a new life!

Nancy Ramirez
Medical Assistant to Dr. Robert Davis

Nancy joined our team in April 2011 and works directly with Dr. Robert Davis as his medical assistant. In her role, she triages patients on clinic days, schedules tests, reviews results with Dr. Davis, communicates pre-op instructions for all of Dr. Davis's surgical patients, and acts as the liaison to Dr. Davis on behalf of his patients. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Nancy worked as the front and back office coordinator and surgery scheduler for a high volume, multi-location urology/fertility clinic for three years. She assisted in minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and also managed insurance verification processes. Nancy is a compassionate patient advocate and medical assistant, and brings excellence to each patient experience.

Naomi Garza
Medical Assistant to Dr. Tony Primomo

A native Houstonian, Naomi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double focus on Biology and Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in 2001. She completed her senior internship at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and TIRR. After graduating, Naomi worked for a high-volume orthopedic group for six years. Her responsibilities included serving as a clinic coordinator for the back office, as well as being responsible for  patient care, wound care and fractures, and as the DME specialist  (certified in bracing, casting and splinting). 

Prior to joining the Davis Clinic in October 2010, Naomi was a stay-at-home mom for over three years to her two beautiful children. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at home, but knew the medical field was still in sight of what she wanted to do.  In her role as Dr. Primomo's medical assistant, she greets, triages, and rooms patients on clinic days, answers and returns patient phone calls, and educates patients before and after surgery. In addition, she is responsible for orderering tests and reviewing labs with Dr. Primomo's patients. She also assists with our non-surgical program. Naomi enjoys working at The Davis Clinic, because in the time she has been here, she states that watching the transformation of lives is amazing and seeing the difference we all make on each individual patient is priceless. 

Ellen Bell
Bariatric Insurance Coordinator (Last Names A-L)

Ellen Bell joined The Davis Clinic in May 2010 as a Bariatric Insurance Coordinator. In her role, she manages the patient process to insurance approval for all patients within the program whose last names end in A-L. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Ellen was the Practice Manager for Dr. John Husted in Somerset, Kentucky and worked extensively with patients to obtain insurance approval for surgery. Prior to working for Dr. Husted, she was the Bariatric Insurance Coordinator for Bariatric Partners, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. In her role with Bariatric Partners, she coordinated all insurance approval efforts for outpatient surgery centers across the country which operated under the brand name “JourneyLite.” Prior to joining Bariatric Partners in this national role, she worked for Dr. Husted for over three years when his practice was located in Nashville, TN. Ellen is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and was a keynote speaker at the annual convention in 2006. She has consulted with surgeons across the country to educate and streamline their practices to increase the surgery approval rate as well as reimbursements. Her overall commitment and empathetic nature is due, in part, to her own personal experience as a successful bariatric patient.

Dinah Alfafara
Bariatric Insurance Coordinator (Last Names M-Z)

As the newest member of The Davis Clinic, Dinah is a breath of fresh air to our team. She joined us in May 2011 and manages the patient process to insurance approval for all patients within the program whose last names end in M-Z. Dinah facilitates our seminars and is one of the first faces from our practice that our patients see. She is meticulously detailed and uses her prior experience to enhance the patient's experience from seminar to surgery approval.

Dinah began her medical career eight years ago at St. Joseph Medical Center, where she worked in the Trauma Services Department. In her position there, she demonstrated a fierce work ethic and a passion to help others, as well as having a thirst for learning all she could about medical care. She left St. Joseph Medical Center to join Houston Metropolitan Surgery Associates as their clinical manager, where she was accountable for ensuring operational and clinical excellence, all the while facilitating outstanding patient and family experiences within the surgical practice. Dinah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Davis Clinic. After graduating with honors from Sanford Brown, she continued her education at Houston Community College to further pursue a career in nursing.  Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Dinah moved to Houston along with her family, and spends her time out of the office hitting balls at the golf range, working out, taking mini-vacations, and spending time with family and friends.

Alma Palacios
Surgery Scheduling Coordinator

Alma Palacios joined The Davis Clinic in March 2006. She initially was our front desk coordinator; she moved from that position to our insurance benefits verification coordinator, and now serves full-time as our surgery scheduling coordinator. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Alma spent over four years in the healthcare industry, and she also enjoyed time as a stay-at-home mom. We’re thankful that she decided to rejoin the workforce, as Alma is a vitally important team member at The Davis Clinic. Her attention to detail shows in all that she does. As a patient of our practice, you will work closely with Alma in scheduling your surgery, making sure everything is ready to go on the day of your surgery. Alma states that she loves her job and making a difference in the lives of our patients.

Becky Pate, CMC, CMOM
Manager, Billing and Insurance Services

Becky Pate joined the practice in July 1997 when it was known as Houston Surgical Consultants. She started in the role as the practice receptionist and insurance claims secretary for Dr. Robert Davis. Over the years, Becky has served in many different capacities within the practice and, in 2008, was promoted to Manager of Billing and Insurance Services. She has earned the designations of certified medical coder and certified medical office manager. Becky brings a tremendous amount of knowledge about the practice, its history, and the transition from Houston Surgical Consultants to the current-day Davis Clinic to the team. She is a valued, loyal employee and appreciates how what she does on a daily basis allows the practice to run smoothly.

Laura Aguilar joined The Davis Clinic in August 2009. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, Laura served as billing and collections manager for Fein-Jennings Clinic in Houston, where she served in that capacity for over two years. Her background in healthcare extends over 15 years and she brings a great understanding of the financial side of the private practice to The Davis Clinic. Laura is a proud native Houstonian and is a tremendous asset to our team.

 Leslie Stevens
Financial Collections Specialist

Leslie joined The Davis Clinic in September 2010. Born and raised in New Orleans, Leslie brings a bit of wonderful, Southern creole flair to our practice. She moved to Houston in 2001 when her spouse was transferred here, but frequently returns to her native roots to enjoy time with family and friends. Prior to joining The Davis Clinic, she worked as a receptionist for an orthodontist in Louisiana, and for an otolaryngologist in west Houston. Leslie has a strong background in insurance services, with a specialty in workers compensation. In her role at The Davis Clinic, Leslie focuses on billing and collections and is meticulous with patient account audits.
